James McNeil [sic] Whistler Esq.
About the 9th of August our Mr Kennedy left an order with you for 3 Nocturne palaces, 3 The dyer, 2 San Giorgio, 2 Upright Venice and 2 The balcony, which you kindly promised to fill and deliver to Robert Dunthorne in Vigo street.
We have not heard from Mr D. yet in regard to the same and as we need the etchings very much, you would oblige us by sending them without delay. Mr Dunthorne will pay for the etchings on delivery.

Art dealers and publishers.
3. Nocturne palaces ... The balcony
Record of the order for etchings is unidentified. However, JW had already exhibited etchings with Wunderlich a couple of years previously (50 Etchings and Drypoints (Venice Second Series), H. Wunderlich and Co., New York, 1883) and he continued to sell his work through the firm (see list of etchings, #13091). The etchings referred to here are: Nocturne: Palaces (K.202); The Dyer (K.219); San Giorgio (K.201); Upright Venice (K.205), and The Balcony (K.207).
