Dear Sir -
Her Royal Highness the Princess Louise[3] has graciously expressed her wish that I should apprise you of the intended presentation to Her Majesty the Queen, of a memorial[4] on behalf of the Society of British Artists, signed by me as their President -
I therefore did myself the honour of calling upon you once or twice - but was was unhappily unable to find you - [as?] [p. 2] The memorial will doubtless in due course come before you - and I need only now say write that it was the express desire of H. R. H who has seen the work that you should know the great interest she takes in it -
