8th Sept. 1894.

Dear Mr Whistler

I was of the opinion that everything in "The West" was done with lightning speed. From the enclosed[2] just received it seems they are in no more hurry than in this country to acquire "Art"

You spoke of having a friend in Boston[3].

If you have not had the opportunity of verbal communication with her perhaps you might be good enough to write as you will see from the letter that the secretary intends [p. 2] making an effort in a month or so.

With kind regards to yourself & Mrs Whistler[4] & trusting to have the pleasure of seeing you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Reid.

you might return enclosure when writing
