7A Queens Road West -
Dear Rose -
Two words -
don't let your procedings [sic] with the landlord Mr. Keene, go farther than asking the question - So that even if answered in the affirmative, I may still be at liberty to take his house or not - I mean that I do not wish to commit myself, as in the mean time something else may prove more desirable - I am not sure that I explained this, this morning [p. 2] and write now -
With many thanks
1. [4/11 March 1863?]
Dated from address and reference to 7 Lindsey Row (see below). Mondays fell on 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 March 1863. This letter probably pre-dates #08984.
'1' written in another hand at the top of p. 1.
No. 7 Lindsey Row, Chelsea. JW would move into the house at the end of the month after some delay in the proceedings (Isaac H. Keene to J. A. Rose, #11856). The lease began on 25 March 1863 (see Memorandum of Agreement, #12160).
