[p. 2] 'Colnaghi 2 Feby 1866
1. Paul and D. Colnaghi and Co.
Written in another hand; related legal documents in Rose's office were numbered, probably by his clerk.
JW had departed for Valparaiso, Chile where he would spend the next eight months as a bystander to the Chilean-Peruvian conflict with the Spanish government. Before his departure, he instructed Rose to act on his behalf for the sale of fifteen etched copper plates. These probably included etchings from A Series of Sixteen Etchings of Scenes on the Thames, 1871 (the 'Thames Set') (K.38-44, 46, 52, 66, 68, 71, 74-76, 95) (excat 4) such as The Little Pool (K.74) and Old Hungerford Bridge (K.76). See also #11482, the legal document drawn up by Rose.
