2, EATON GARDENS,
WEST BRIGHTON.

28 April 1889.

Dear Sir,

I shall have much pleasure in accepting the Committee's pleasant proposition that I should return thanks for the toast of "Literature", at the forthcoming Whistler Banquet[3].

I trust I may be excused for suggesting that the toast may come somewhat early in the list, [p. 2] as I have another engagement that evening which I should like to fulfil.

Faithfully yours,

Edmund Yates.
