I have sent in a new drawing of the elevation of my house[5] which I sincerely hope trust now have great hopes will meet with your approval - and I must sincerely and [hes?] feel myself greatly indebted to your kind suggestions and advice in the matter - which Mr Godwin[6] has carried out with great advantage to the appearance of the building - w the result being as you prophecied [sic] an increase of elegance and refinement that I am highly gratified with - Pray receive my warm [p. 2] thanks for your kindness and courtesy and

A smaller drawing in perspective is also sent herewith to be submitted to the Gentlemen of the board whose wishes I endeavoured am most desirous to meet -
I would may You will perceive that your idea of greater height has been worked at aimed effected - and I hope you like the present proportion of the Tower whose [tallness?]

5. elevation of my house
The elevation of the White House designed by E. W. Godwin for JW in Tite Street. The facade had to be redrawn to incorporate additional decorative elements before the Metropolitan Board of Works would give JW the lease and planning permission. This explains the obsequious tone of this letter.
