Major -

Only this time to tell you that I have written a capital letter of instruction, so Webb^[4] says, to Boddington^[5] about Carmen^[6] - For after reading your report this morning I felt more anxious the danger of Carmen & Rossi^[7] both bolting while the "Counsellors of the American [p. 2] Embassy sat blandly waiting for her! -

I told him how she was to be caught - and will send you copy by tomorrows post -

Hessel^[8] has written a letter that is bluster & funk mixed - and Reid^[9] is so far not himself incriminated - This is all to the good -

Hessel will probably have to come over as witness to perjure himself in the box -

Everything is all right now it is true with the Kelly business, and the last letter I sent you for presentation to Boddington not necessary & can be burned - Still you will be able to see the other one - Webb's

Did you show it to him? -

I mean you will manage to see that Boddington understands that you are not "turned over to him" because such was our pleasure -

However that's all right - & now one thing: -

Kelly said in one of his letters something about the possibility of your bringing Carmen up there - you have read what I said - and [p. 4] on no account allow any silliness of them to bring you into contact with any of the criminals. -

Bunnie^[10] my dear why have you nothing to say to me! -
