1.  [Edmund Newman]
Edmund Newman (b. ca 1829), of Newman and Payne, solicitor [more].

2.  James Anderson Rose
This scrap of paper came with the papers of James Anderson Rose (1819-1890), solicitor [more] to the Library of Congress. These included unpaid bills and records of costs connected with JW's bankruptcy and legal affairs. The number '93' added at the top appears to connect this document with others relating to the case of Johnson v. Whistler which have the same number, in particular with #12210; see also #12203 and #12212. On the verso, which has not been transcribed, are further legal notes with no names or dates, on an unknown subject.
