21, CHEYNE WALK,
CHELSEA.

Dear Mr Robertson -

In the hurry today, and the preoccupation with the Dowdeswell[3] matter, I forgot to tell you that I have had a letter from der Herr Doctor Paulus[4], Director of the Exhibition in Münich, begging that your two pictures[5], which he has just seen in Paris, & of which he is wildly enamoured, may be allowed to go on from the Champ de Mars (with other notable works the Frenchmen are sending) to the Münich Exhibition[6] -

Now I have ready for you at once, if you like, [p. 2] "La Dame au brodequin jaune[7]" - (Lady Archibald Campbell[8]) and one of the pictures of the girls by the seaside[9] you know in the dining room here -

What say you? -

I need not tell you how pleased I shall be if you further, in this way, the spreading of our two reputations! -

Always sincerely

J McN. Whistler
