Rushing! - Wired Simpkins[4] this morning "All right writing" -
Have Webbs[5] opinion "Cannot attack Bank account -" -
Don't seem to me that the Morning Post was very bad - rather well perhaps for the moment - And why should not[6] other papers be prevented by the calm & rather "dignified" tone of Post [p. 2] which ought to sound as if "of course - all right - & success".
The Morning Post man here Mr Douglas[7], who did the trial, has been after me all the while - and yesterday again - begging for book to do something - [Shall?] Shall I give it him for further review for Monday - Dunn[8] might put it in - But the others are sure - I feel that success "is round"! - and I smell the battle - Of course I write to Simpkins and tell him am responsible - Why not now yourself go and see him on this note - and push see that he goes on - But who is to be the "other party" - ? - You dont seem to have answered my wire of this morning? - I wanted text for Simpkins letter - However - he will show you - and you can encourage - Seeing May[9] in morning - Cannot Brentano[10] do something as an order to appease May meanwhile
