'Recd. 7/7/93'

110. Rue du Bac. Paris -

Dear Mr. Thomson -

Mr Michael Dignam[4] - who is passing through London - will call upon you - I have asked him to do so -

His work interests me - and it would especially please me that he should be put in relation with the right people in London -

Certainly you of all others are the one [p. 2] who can do this -

The Editor[5] of "The Sketch" * * Also the Editor of Lady's Pictorial [6]- - I think you know - and for him Mr Dignam might (as well as for others) furnish drawings from Paris on his return -

In any case I am sure you will be pleased to meet the young gentleman himself, and to do what you can to facilitate his intercourse with those who might be useful to him -

It is rare that the work of any one should call for my interference! This I doubt not will occur to you! - Therefore you will suppose that I see more in Mr Dignam's promise and quality than I do in the performance of others - and in this you are right -

Be assured that I shall feel personally grateful for any trouble (which after all I know will be a pleasure to you) that you take in this matter -

This is by the way the 6th of July - and no photographs[7] have come for [p. 3] me to sign -

Very sincerely yours

J McN. Whistler
