Mrs Bowen[3] I fear got it wrong - I said that it would be nice if Pennell[4] were to look round upon me this time - for I had news - and should be at Garlants until 9. o'clock -

I wish enough I could [p. 2] come and dine with you - for it is always charming! but your appointed hours are to me quite impossible - So I must sadly wait until my work is completed - if ever I recognise such a possibility -
