My dear Mr Alexander.
Will you not kindly give your permission to Madame de Monbrisson[3] to see the portrait?
She has but a day in town, and is most anxious to [p. 2] see "Miss Alexander"[4] before going back to Paris - so you will forgive the abruptness of the request. -
She will call then tomorrow or the day after - and if you will only leave orders that she is to be shown the picture, it will be nice of you -
