J. McNeil [sic] Whistler Esq:
Since our last writing our Mr Wunderlich has gone to Europe. He will be in London early in April & expects to see you then. We have explained to you the reasons for opening the exhibition without the eighteen pictures yet to come, and now wish to add, that the room was arranged like one we saw at Dowdeswells two years or so ago. We had suggestions from Mr Pennington in it's preparation, & we are glad to say that it
s's a great success and much admired. The catalogue is copied from Dowdeswells also. In this; as in the decoration of the rooms we desired to carry out your ideas as nearly as possible, & trust that the general commendation [p. 2] of the public as well as the members of your family here, will be as gratifying to you as it is to us. Applications for the pictures remaining unsold come to us from different places (to be exhibited of course) but we have declined to let them out of our possession. We trust that the pictures to come will soon be here, as ten of those here are now sold and we can possibly dispose of many more by the addition of fresh material.
Trusting that we shall have good news from you soon, we are dear Sir
H. Wunderlich & Co.
