TELEGRAMS, - BOUSSOD, LONDON.

London

16 June 1891.

Dear Sir,

I have shown your pictures to a small number of the best people here, but up to the present without result.

Being over in Paris recently our people at the branch house of the Boulevard Montmartre asked me if I could let them show the two smaller ones to a client. I therefore [p. 2] sent over the two smaller pictures "La fusée tombante" & "La roue du feu[2]" to be shown very discreetly so as not to injure their value.

The manager[3] of the branch writes to me that he thinks he can sell one or the other of these two, but the price is entirely against his chance & he asks if you would accept so low a sum for one as £300. I confess I rather dread to ask the question, but still it is possible that it may be convenient to you to take this. I am not authorized to make you the offer but I have arranged to telegraph to him your decision tomorrow & enclosed is a form [p. 3] on which please wire tomorrow morning to me as early as convenient.

The client has not decided which of the two he would take, but our manager is confident he will take one. Perhaps you will indicate on your telegram which you would rather that we should sell if any.

Your faithful Servant

D. C. Thomson
