In thanking you for the opportunity which you have been so good as to afford for the inspection of the nineteen Etchings recently received from you on approval with a view to their addition to the series of your earlier works already in the South Kensington Museum, I am directed to express regret that the Department can only expend the sum of forty pounds towards the acquisition of some of your recent Etchings, and I am [p. 2] to request that you will kindly inform the Department what it may have for that sum.
