My dear Trixie
I am desired by Maude[3] to write you a line of Congratulation on your birthday[.] I do so with all my heart wishing health and all happiness for many years to come[.] I remember the day before you were born[;] it was much such a day as we are having [-] cold and dull [-] but the season had been all along cold[,] no appearance of spring until my first looking out upon the world after your birth, all changed[;] the beautiful spring had made all lovely to my eyes, the Baby prospering[,] a small [p. 2] very bright eyed dark child
with love to [yourself?] and Ethel[4] send very kind rem[em]brances to Mr Whistler
