The accounts were dated from 17 September to 1 December 1877, during a period of financial brinkmanship for both Howell and JW. The list was probably made at one time to gather together scattered records kept on slips of paper and in JW's ledger. It corresponds to dates and amounts shown in JW's ledger (#12742).

Charles Augustus ('Owl') Howell (1840? - d.1890), entrepreneur [more].

Written in Howell's hand on a sheet that is rather blotted and dirty.
4. Chapman - Pictures
Alfred Chapman (1839-1917), engineer and collector [more]. Howell probably got a commission and expenses for the sale and delivery of Cremorne (YMSM 168) to J. A. Chapman (see letter from Howell to JW, #02182, and accounts, #12738).
