Dear Sir

I have had much chat about poor Traer[3] & I still think that it would be most unwise to say any thing about it

Believe me
Yours very faithfully

Notes:

1.  [27 April/May 1867]
Dr James Reeves Traer, medical assistant to Francis Seymour Haden (1818-1910), surgeon and etcher, JW's brother-in-law [more], died suddenly in Paris on 23 April 1867, allegedly in a brothel. This letter probably dates from after 26 April 1867, when JW quarrelled with F. S. Haden over his handling of the event.

2.  Tilbury Fox
Dr William Tilbury Fox (1836-1879), physician and surgeon [more].

3.  Traer
James Reeves Traer (ca 1834 - d.1867), partner in F. S. Haden's medical practice [more].
