My dear Huish -

I am sorry for once to write indiscreetly! which you know is so unlike me -

But on the spur of the moment & in my great disappointment I cannot help calling out to you that I have never seen such a horrible & indeed damnable photograph[4]!.

Possibly one of the photographs offered by E. G. Brown of Rose and Gold: 'Pretty Nellie Brown' (YMSM 451) (see Brown to JW, #01364). The portrait was of Brown's young daughter. It was sold to Frank Lusk Babbott (1854-1933), collector [more], of Brooklyn, New York, in August 1900. See E. G. Brown to JW, #01360, 18 May 1900.
