Dear Mr. Whistler,
I know you will be amused and interested in the enclosed pamphlet which has been sent to me from New York. A more ridiculous jumble I never read. It seems to be an official thing too[.] I think you ought to "go for" the compilers. It has taken two of them to do it.
[p. 2] Your lithographs have been moved into the outer room today.

JW's lithographs were then on show at Mr Whistler's Lithographs, The Fine Art Society, London, 1895.
4. pencil drawing and note
Plan of a room (M.1452). The pencil drawing is possibly in JW's hand. It could relate to the search for a house and studio in London. The pencil note is in another hand and does not appear to relate to it.
Probably a brand name for liquid petroleum, which was used in household lamps.
