Dear Mr Whistler

I could not give Mr Godwin[2] a definite answer the other day with regard to Saturday [p. 2] but I find that, as I rather expected, my cousin[3] will be going out of Town. I am sorry that I could not give you earlier notice, but he himself was not certain of his plans.

Truly yours

Herbert Gilbert.
