Notes:

1.  [February 1867/1874]
Dated from the address.

2.  Story?
The name of the recipient is not clear but is noted as Story in the typescript copy available. This is unlikely to be JW's friend Thomas Waldo Story (1854-1915), sculptor [more], because most letters to him date from 1882 onwards. Likewise, JW's known acquaintance with Julian Russell Story (1850-1919), genre and portrait painter [more], dates from much later.

3.  GARRICK CLUB
The note is written on Garrick Club stationery; the club was not only for actors but for those interested in arts and the theatre.
