Notes:

1.  [January 1888?]
This is the left half of a letter from an unknown writer, and must predate an unrelated document on the verso, dated '1 February 1888' (Messrs Dowdeswell, #00900).

2.  Beefsteak Club
It is not certain that this letter was from the Club (a private gentleman's club still in existence today) nor that it was written to JW, who was a member of the club. It may relate to an election to membership of the club. On the other hand, it could be from a fellow-member of that club, and unrelated to club matters.

3.  MsLf
This letter fragment appears on the verso of #00900.

4.  F D Mil
Only the 'D' is really legible; however, it is just possible the person referred to was Francis David Millet (1846-1912), painter, writer and illustrator [more].
