1.  [1889/1890]
Dated by signature and JW's known association with L. Jopling.

2.  [Louise Jopling ?]
Louise Jopling (1843-1933), née Goode, later Mrs Jopling-Rowe, artist [more].

3.  ADS
This note probably accompanied a prize, but no record of its provenance has survived. A similar record of awards to L. Jopling's pupils is #02416.

4.  Mrs Jopling's School of Art...Orde
Written in another hand. Jopling directed a school for training women artists. They were not allowed to attend life classes in the Academy schools, so her school provided an opportunity for women to gain the experience in life drawing that enabled them to compete with men on an equal footing. Jopling had suffered from this discrimination, but was able to attend life-classes in Paris (see Jopling, Louise, Twenty Years of My Life, 1867 to 1887, London, 1925, p. 307, photographs of the school repr. pp. 267, 309).

5.  Miss Orde
Alice Orde (fl. 1895-1913), artist [more]; or possibly M. L. Orde (fl. 1896-1897), exhibitor at the Society of Women Artists.
