This may relates to JW's bankruptcy papers. His libel case in November 1878 against John Ruskin (1819-1900), critic, social reformer and artist [more], precipitated a crisis in his already overstretched finances. A petition was filed for his bankruptcy on 9 May 1879 (see #08895).

James Anderson Rose (1819-1890), solicitor [more].

3.  Brazio Buggiani
Brazio Buggiani (b. ca 1818), picture restorer [more]. According to a letter from JW to Mrs Rawlinson in November 1878, Buggiani was employed to varnish Nocturne: Blue and Silver - Battersea Reach (YMSM 119) (#08112).

Percival John Lewin (ca 1841 - d.1887), mortgage holder on JW's house [more].

Written on the right in an unknown hand. The legal documents collected by Rose were numbered according to the case involved. The style of this document is similar to #11945.
