Dear Sir -

I saw Mr Whistler the other day in Bond Street on the opposite side of the pavement and held up your letter - He replied by producing a dozen of the kind from his pocket, but has since sent no signature -

Yours truly

O K[4]

Notes:

1.  Edward G. Kennedy
Edward Guthrie Kennedy (1849-1932), dealer with H. Wunderlich and Co., New York [more]. JW called him O'K.

2.  D. W. Howland
D. W. Howland, unidentified [more]. This response to Howland's request for JW's autograph is written on the same sheet as his letter (see D. W. Howland to JW, #09870).

3.  MsLd
The letter is written entirely in JW's hand. Despite being written from the viewpoint of Kenendy, it is clear from the tone and from the additional note that JW is the true author. The postscript is in Kennedy's hand.
