What may I ask is the reason that again I am without your report? - No letters today - Not a line from you - What possible explanation have you of this?

Tell William[3] to get at work at once in the studio - Everything must be in perfect order - The printing press in excellent working order - paper sorted - ink looked to and fresh tubes [p. 2] ground - brushes clean and at hand - in short everything ready for my printing directly I return - and you may expect me almost at once - you will however hear finally from Paris - and you will get a telegram when to stop the letters -

I sent you letter with cheque for four pounds - have you not safely received it? -

Go and see George Lewis[4] from me and say that you told me that Mr. Brown[5] of the Fine Art Society is off to America - and that I beg he will push on the Huish[6] affair before he gets away -

I am writing to Mr. Roussel[7] - but no one else need know of my intended return -

J McN. Whistler
