Dear Mr. Whistler -

Enclosed please find statement of account[2] and checque [sic] for £78. 6. 10 in settlement of balance to date.

IWe should have attended to this before but put it off from week to week, hoping to be able to make a better showing of sales, the result has not been what we expected, as the commission does not cover our expenses, yet considering the general stagnation of the picture business in this country and the high prices of your works, we have done pretty well, and shall be satisfied if you are.

I have sent 6 of your drawings to one of our customers in Detroit[3], they will be shown at a receiption [sic] of the art Club and some may be sold.

Hoping to hear from you soon regarding the two plates[4], we remain

Most respectfully.

Hermann Wunderlich & Co
