Dated by comparison of butterfly signature, writing and paper with other menus. Whistler bought cod from John S. Charles (fl. 1876-1887), fishmonger in Pimlico, London [more], on 1 November 1877 (#08848).

2.  Potage
The menu, written in French, consisted of leek soup, cod, pigeons, lamb cutlets, mince pies, macaroni and coffee.
