LITTLE HOLLAND HOUSE,
KENSINGTON. W.

July 14th 1891

My dear Mr Whistler

I don't suppose you will care a pin for my opinion but I cannot help writing to say how great I think your picture of your mother[2] is, a real poem of the highest order, a most serene harmony, the impression of it remains with me like a strain of sweet & solemn music

G. F. Watts
