Dear Mr Whistler,

I send you 'The Times' of to-day with a curiously sympathetic sentence on your portrait of the Count[3].

I should be very glad if you would let me make a small illustration[4] for the for the [sic] Art Journal & if you are agreeable [p. 2] will you kindly sign the enclosed note & send it to Goupils 24 Boulevard des Capucines at once for if it is to be done it must be done quickly.

If you care also to have it in the Figaro Salon[5] will you also sign the other paper (marked 2) but if that is not agreeable never mind.

Yours very truly
