Dear Sir,

We are sending you a pastel[2] which has been offered to us & which we can sell at a moderate profit if it has your signature. We have arranged however that if you are asked to do this a consideration must be paid [p. 2] & we are therefore prepared to send you a cheque for £5 - for your signature - the "butterfly" is asked if this arrangement meets with your approval.

The pastel came from the Fine Art Society[3] we think

Yours vy truly.
