Notes:
1. [9 August/September 1887?]
This page contains a draft of JW's design for notepaper for the Society of which he was President. During her Jubilee Year, JW sent a Memorial to the Queen requesting that the Society of British Artists be called 'Imperial'. This was then amended to read 'Royal'. The SBA received a Royal Charter, thus becoming the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA; see G. Lushington to JW, 9 August 1887, #13418).
2. [drawing of a rectangle]
The small rectangle, placed on the right, was intended to contain a crowned lion, JW's design for the new RBA logo. A similar design is on #05300.
