Dear Mr Whistler.
I have bought the Nocturne[2] I saw in your Studio. from Mr Albert Moore[3] that is to say there is only £10. between us which I shall concede if need be. I expect to have his reply & send him cheque to-morrow but meantime as I am urgently wanting the picture to show one of my men who leaves in the beginning of next week would you kindly hand it to Mr Petit[4] - my emballeur[5] in order that he may forward it at once. I [p. 2] daresay your experience of me will warrant your relying on my word in the absense [sic] of instructions from Mr Moore.
With kindest regards -
Yours always faithfully,
Alex Reid,
You see I sometimes bargain.
