Know all men by these Presents that I James McNeill Whistler of St Judes Heath End Hampstead in the County of Middlesex do hereby appoint make constitute and declare Rosalind Phillip[2] [sic] of 36 Tite Street Chelsea in the County of Middlesex Spinster to be my Ward And I do hereby undertake and agree to act as Guardian to her and during the time that she shall reside at my house to maintain allow to and provide for her with such proper maintenance and allowances as may befit her position as my Ward In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty sixth day of May - 1896
