The McCulloch business came off this afternoon - and we knocked the stuffing out of them -
It was fine, every R. A. to whom he applied has suddenly "took sick", or had a sitter, or [
paraly?] was going on a journey or some thing - even every engraver or illustrator went back on him - it was too [p. 2] British - so I went feeling I was rather responsible for the whole business -
On the other side was the artist - such a "hartis" - backing up the dealers, standing in with the shop keeper, as usual.
And we just talked to the Judge, who said he dident believe the shop keeper - nor did I. And as for the artist there wasent any thing left of him And MacCulloch got [p. 3] his money and his costs and I hope is happy.
