2. Society of Illustrators
The Society was planning an anthology, the London Garland, to be edited by William Ernest Henley (1849-1903), journalist, poet and writer [more], and illustrated by its members. See Pennell, Elizabeth Robins, and Joseph Pennell, The Life of James McNeill Whistler, 2 vols, London and Philadelphia, 1908, vol. 2, p. 166. JW was invited to become a vice-president on 26 February 1894 (see F. W. Sullivan to JW, #05506).
