Possibly Cecilia M. Pearse (b. 1853 or 1854), amateur singer and society hostess, wife of Godfrey Pearse [more]. The annotation on page two, suggesting that the letter is to Matilda Jane Pearce (b. ca 1834), wife of Stephen Pearce [more], is based on a mis-reading of the name.
