Dear Mr. Reid -
I have just received your note with cheque for £40[2]. - Mercie [sic] beaucoup -
Last night I forgot entirely to tell you that I have heard from Mr Kennedy[3] of New York about the coming Chicago Exhibition - He has put himself in communication with the [p. 2] Chief[4] of the Fine Art Department who is determined to do every thing that shall help me and make for me a perfect exhibition -
Kennedy says that Dunthorne[5] of Vigo Street is appointed one of the receivers of pictures from England - and all matters of conveying and insuring the pictures could be managed through him -
Write me a line and say what you think -
In a word we [p. 3] have it all our own way for once - and we had better make the most of it -
