Gentn,

I am in receipt of your note of yesterday and in reply thereto have to repeat the statement in mine of the 4th inst.[4] that my picture[5] by Whistler was lent for your Exhibition[6] at "Mr Whistler's desire supported by you". Personally I should have preferred not to exhibit the picture and would not have done so had you indicated in any way that you would make a charge for washing the picture. I return your account.
