In reply to your letter of the 14th instant, I am directed by the Committee to inform you that Mr Stott has resigned his membership of the Club, instead of complying with the requisition of the Committee for a personal apology to yourself in addition [p. 2] to the apology which he had already tendered to the Club.
I am further directed by the Committee to inform you that in their opinion the publication of your letter has been extremely prejudicial to the interests of the Club, and I am desired to express their regret that you should have allowed the [p. 3] possibility of such publicity before the matter had been duly considered by them.
A report of the whole proceedings will be brought before the General Meeting on Tuesday the 5th of February.
I am, dear Sir,
H. M. Cundall
J. McNeill Whistler Esq
