CORPORATION GALLERIES OF ART.
GLASGOW

24 March 1891

Dear Sir,

I am instructed to inform you that the Museum and Galleries Committee of the Town Council of Glasgow have resolved to purchase your picture[2], at the price, I understand, you stated to the deputation which lately waited on you in London - one thousand guineas (£1050). A condition of the purchase is that the picture shall be delivered to the Committee in good condition, in a [p. 2] frame suitable for the work, and for a public gallery. I may say I expect that the Science and Art Department will be sending from South Kensington Museum within the next three weeks a van, with a number of pictures to Glasgow, and if the picture were delivered there, I could arrange to have it brought on under the care of the officials of the Department.

Yours faithfully

J W Paton
