I have to inform you that I have today had the pleasure of sending cheque for £1,050 to your Bankers Messrs Drummond[2], Charing Cross, being the price agreed on to be paid by the Corporation of Glasgow for your important portrait of "Carlyle[3]" - I shall thank you to let me have your acknowledgement of the payment of the money. -
