Dear Mr Whistler,

Will you please tell the bearer, Richardson[2], what we owe you for the little lithograph[3] and if you would be so kind as to put the butterfly on the proofs sent herewith you would greatly oblige - I have just received a letter from Mr Howard Mansfield[4] in which he ask me to thank you in anticipation for signing the other proofs[.] He says: - "I am sure he will not mind signing them considering the importance of my collection of his etchings, [p. 2] which I suppose is not second in importance to no other collection. Please express to him my appreciative thanks for the favour on his part".

If convenient to you Richardson shall call in the morning

Yours sincerely

Ernest G. Brown.
