Dear Whistler.

I told my clerk[2] to inform you -

one that Brown[3] was away & that I was unaware either of the number or the price to be paid.

two - that I could not sign a check for over £20. & that the balance wd be sent you -

So you see that [p. 2] there was no wish whatever to avoid the proper payment.

You forget that you took three months to print the etchings[4] for us - & now grumble because the coin isn't sent in three days.
