Munich.

November 14.

Dear Mr. Whistler -

You will I am afraid put me down as a bad correspondent, as I have shown no signs of life -

The truth is that I can find out nothing here - The Exhibition[3] is closed & Paulus[4] is very busy, partly in packing & returning pictures, partly in inevitable legal disputes, and partly in reflecting on the joys of the £3,500 which represents his commission [p. 2] on the whole business!

[drawings of three rabbits[5]]

However I am sure that your name has been proposed[6] and accepted; but when you will be officially dubbed is more than I can tell you.

I also see that you have been elected an honorary member of the Munich Academy[7].

I am delighted at both these facts, in which I see an effort on the part of Munich to vindicate its pretensions to good taste!

Yrs very truly

Henry Cadogan.
