We beg to inform you that Lord Erskine has authorized us to raise money out of which to pay the bill which was endorsed by Mr. Whistler & costs.
We understand that this is the only claim which Mr. Whistler has against our client in connection with the Whirlwind or otherwise
[p. 2] You will probably be aware that the partnership (if any) between Mr. Erskine & Mr. Vivian has been dissolved on the 11th inst:, and our client is not liable for debts incurred since that date. A notice of the dissolution appears in the Gazette of the 14th inst:, and this we think we should communicate to your client unless you will do so, so perhaps you would be good enough to let us know his address.
We are, dear Sirs
Cookson & Co
