About October 1901, JW suspected that Carmen Rossi, model, proprietess of the Académie Carmen [more] was removing and selling on works from his studio. One of them was Rose et or: La Napolitaine (YMSM 505). On 14 June 1902, he managed to recover it, with the Addams's assistance (see C. Addams to JW, #00110, #00112; I. Addams to JW, #00119; and G. Bergaud to C. Addams, #04637).
